Congratulations! You have been hired as a new teacher at William Penn CSD!
INTRODUCTION
After working your tail off for 4(+) years, you have been selected as the next (fill in curricular area and grade level) teacher for the prestigious William Penn CSD. Your Principal and Curriculum Director, Robb Beane, would like to welcome you to the Statesmen Team! WPCSD has been working very hard at increasing technology use in our classrooms. We are a one-to-one district which means every child has a Chromebook that they are allowed to take home and use in addition to using them at school. All of our text books, handouts, and assignments are completed on the Chromebooks.
TASK
We would like you to start building your curriculum file by developing your own WebQuest to be used in your classroom. You may build your WebQuest on Weebly. What is a WebQuest you ask? - A WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented lesson format in which most or all the information that learners work with comes from the web.[1] A WebQuest is distinguished from other Internet-based research by Five characteristics. First, it is student-based.[2] Second, it emphasizes higher-order thinking (such as analysis, creativity, or criticism) rather than just acquiring information.[3] And third, the teacher preselects the sources, emphasizing information use rather than information gathering.[2] Finally, though solo WebQuests are common, some WebQuests are group work with the task frequently being split into roles.[2]
Your WebQuest must include: an introduction, a task, the process, resources, a rubric (evaluation), and a conclusion. Follow the process below to assist you in you your task.
